Holiday Business Plan Reviewby Cheryl Williams Levey Have you ever worked so hard that you knew you needed a vacation, even if it was just a "mental health" day to lie around the house and read a book? Of course you have! Haven't we all? Lately, I've been going at warp speed and I'm ready for a break. Ready for that egg-nog and getting under the mistletoe :) ! I'm also ready for a review and revision of my business plan and goals. What? You don't do that? How is your business doing? Is it on track and in line with what you hope to accomplish? How could you possibly know without a business plan, and without periodic review of that plan? If you don't already have one, now is the time to write one. It doesn't have to be complicated, but it does need to clearly define what you do and what your business goals are. Don't know where to start? Check out sample plans here: http://www.bplans.com/sp/index.cfm?a=bc And create one for yourself here: http://home3.americanexpress.com/smallbusiness/tool/biz_plan/index.asp Then, from the plan, develop a set of Daily Actions that you will implement every single business day no matter what. These consistent Daily Actions may seem insignificant when looking at one day or week, but consistent effort pays off HUGE in the long-term. Then, in three months, review and revise the plan. And do this every three months. And at the end of the year, consider rewriting the plan if needed. As I reflect and begin my annual review of where I am and where I want to go, I celebrate my successes as well as noting places I did not perform as well as I planned. Those successes help me to more clearly see where my efforts should be focused. What about you? Will you develop a business plan that will take you where you want to go? ______________________________
