Announcing SHoD X: Labor Day Weekend 2009

The 10th anniversary of SHoD will be held back where it began on the US mid-Atlantic east coast, where doom music was born.

Stoner Hands of Doom is one of the premier annual gatherings for underground heavy/stoner/doom music in North America. SHoD has been held annually since 1999 in various small venues throughout the USA. Many acts are unsigned/unreleased and many travel thousands of miles to gather in the name of rock. The concept was dreamed up by promoters Rob and Cheryl Levey, who have planned, booked and organized it since its inception. Under their guidance, the festival affectionately known as SHoD has grown over eight years from a one-day event to a weekend-long gathering, featuring over three dozen bands.

Of note:

Internal Void will be rereleasing the Voyage tape on CD with some live tracks and hope to have it ready for their only show at SHoD festival.

 

LODGING INFO

Unfortunately, there are no hotels within walking distance of the club. Here, however, is a listing of available hotels and the distance they are located from the club.

TRAVEL INFO

Hotels

We recommend using Hotwire for your hotel reservation as most of the hotels in Frederick are clustered in two basic areas, neither of which are more than a few miles from the club. A taxi fare from pretty much any hotel in Frederick to Krug's would probably run about $10, maybe a little more.

Trains

Amtrak makes train travel easy. Take the train to Washington DC's Union Station. Once in Union Station, you can take a MARC train up to Frederick.

Flights

Generally speaking, flying into the Baltimore (BWI) airport has better airfare rates than going to Dulles (IAD) or Reagan (DCA), both of which are considered DC area airports. Check flights with Expedia and then check specific airlines on the flights listed to see if you can get a better rate. Lots of times, the best rate is through Expedia.

Rental Cars

If you want a rental car, the best rates are found on Hotwire.
