SHoD 13

Some logistical info, courtesy of  Mark at Strange Matter - THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Linden Row Inn is the closest and best deal for a nice room ($100 in a historic/awesome spot right in downtown), but within a mile or two are Double Tree, Crown Plaza, Hilton Garden Inn, Marriott, Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn midtown. For dirt cheap ones, just hop on the interstate and drive a couple miles north, east or south.

Main St Station is 1500 E Main St, and no more than a $10 cab ride to the venue. It is an Amtrak stop (may serve other trains too...)

Richmond International (RIC) is the closest airport. it's about 8 or so miles out of the city, and around a $30-35 cab ride.

Record stores: Vinyl Conflict - punk, hc, metal, and general underground aggressive music. - <1 mile from venue
Steady Sounds - a bit of everything new and used to suit most music fans - <1 mile from venue
Deep Groove - equally mixed up, but always some cool finds as well - <2 miles from venue
Plan 9 - was once our only record store, now not as cool as it once was, but still a Richmond staple. - <2 miles from venue

Best restaurants within a short walk of the venue:
Strange Matter - if you don't wanna leave the show, our kitchen is extensive and open til 10pm every night except sunday (closes at 4pm sundays)
Good Taste - decent chinese food right next door
Panda Veg - good vegetarian chinese on the same block
The Village - comfort food. classic Richmond staple restaurant.
Ipanema - another neighbor. best vegetarian food in town, serves fish as well
Thai Top Ten - thai food on the same block as the venue
Mama's Kitchen - korean food on same block
Aladdin's - quick falafel/gyro/pizza spot 2 blocks away
Nile - amazing Ethiopian food 2 blocks away
Harrison St Coffee Shop - coffee and awesome vegetarian sandwiches
821 Cafe - 8 block walk, but worth it for the best affordable eats in the city. vegetarian and meat-eater friendly.
Comfort - another 8 block walk, but if you wanna spend a little more, it's the best southern comfort food in town
There is also a Panera Bread, Yogurt Shop, Chipotle, Bodillas, Qdoba, Five Guys, and many more in a few blocks from the venue

Street Parking is easiest. meters charge $.50 per hour on weekdays until 6pm, free on weekends. there is an adjoining lot, but at this point it just got sold to the school, so I can't say what will be the case with it when they change it over. There are other school lots within blocks but I am not sure what they charge now. Used to be $5, but I think it went up to $7

Stoner Hands of Doom is one of the premier annual gatherings for underground heavy/stoner/doom music in North America. SHoD has been held annually since 1999 in various small venues throughout the USA. Many acts are unsigned/unreleased and many travel thousands of miles to gather in the name of rock. The concept was dreamed up by promoters Rob and Cheryl Levey, who have planned, booked and organized it since its inception. Under their guidance, the festival affectionately known as SHoD has grown over ten years from a one-day event to a weekend-long gathering, featuring over three dozen bands.

Rob and Cheryl want to gratefully thank EVERYONE for all of their love and support over the years. We have decided to stop doing SHoD and were going to cancel this SHoD but are excited to notify you all that the show will go on without us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Brendan Burns, for taking this on.
