Stoner Hands of Doom Music Festival **** T-shirts and other merch still available **** The 10th anniversary of SHoD was held back where it began on the US mid-Atlantic east coast, where doom music was born. THANK YOU! SHoD X was a huge success, thanks to many people. First and foremost, the bands. Without the music you create, we wouldn't have the passion for the sound or a reason to do a fest. Every band on SHoD X was amazing! Secondly, the fans. Without your enthusiasm and passion for the music, none of this would have been possible. Thank you so much for being there! Also, deepest thanks to the core of people who helped us pull this off: During planning, Jason Scott did our print and online graphics work, kept Rob's MySpace page up to date, and promoted like crazy. I used to LOVE getting a comment from him because I knew that not only was it going to be a really awesome graphic job but also because I knew he had blanketed it all over MySpace for us already. Rob dealt with a group of people who did flyering and street promotion and while I do not know names, I would like to thank those people. Dave Krug, the owner of Krug's, met with us on several occasions to work out details and get the club set up and ready for the fest. He was - both during the planning and during the fest - extremely accommodating and willng to work with us and the bands to make the fest one of the best shows we've ever done. Chris Koslowski is an amazing sound man. Of course I already knew this - after all he did do our very first SHoD in 1999 as well as this one, but WOW! The sound for SHoD X was absolutely incredible! Fezz (Admiral Browning) was our stage manager. All I know is that if I ever do anything like this again, I know who I am going to hire. With 40 bands and 40 minute sets with only 20 minutes between, Fezz kicked ASS rotating the bands on and off! Thanks also to his crew Brandon and Jay. Throughout the planning, Fanny would text me every week or so offering to help. Fanny (and her Jason) did a lot of promotion for us both online and off, especially in Baltimore. She thought of things I would never have thought of and I am so grateful to her for her willingness to do whatever we needed as well as her advice and knowledge regarding what we could/should do. I SO appreciate the pre-show promotion but what I told Fanny all along was that I wanted her to manage the merch area during the show. I knew we'd have SHoD merch (still have some available, check here to order) plus most of the bands would have merch that would need to be out and rotated so that all bands would have room. She did an exceptional job of keeping the merch area neat as well as with record-keeping. She was truly an asset to this festival. Troy was at the door each day, poring over the lists I created, making sure everyone who prepaid was allowed in, checking the bands in (on days they played and days they didn't), and taking ticket orders right at the door. It's really detailed and a laborious process. The rest of the staff and bartenders at Krug's Place. Awesome work! The Krug's staff is known to be friendly and accommodating and the festival, in spite of it's length, was no exception. I hope you all tipped them well! I know I've forgotten people, because so many people were willing to help us out. Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts. ~ Cheryl and Rob ---------------------- Stoner Hands of Doom is one of the premier annual gatherings for underground heavy/stoner/doom music in North America. SHoD has been held annually since 1999 in various small venues throughout the USA. Many acts are unsigned/unreleased and many travel thousands of miles to gather in the name of rock. The concept was dreamed up by promoters Rob and Cheryl Levey, who have planned, booked and organized it since its inception. Under their guidance, the festival affectionately known as SHoD has grown over eight years from a one-day event to a weekend-long gathering, featuring over three dozen bands. SHoD X was the 10th and last.
